My story
I grew up in Jeleniów, a small village in Poland's Holy Cross Mountains, spending my childhood wandering alone through forests and along rivers, learning to notice the small things others pass by.
As a teenager I started drawing to put my feelings on paper, and went on to study sculpture, painting, drawing and art history at the Szermentowski School of Fine Arts in Kielce.
In 2022, driven by a restless sense that there was more waiting for me, I bought a one-way ticket to Dublin. Years of working in kitchens and bars followed, and with them a long, uneasy relationship with my own art, the visions in my head always running ahead of what my hands could do.
The need to create pulled me back. Eventually I stopped fighting it and gave myself to art completely. I think like a sculptor, even on paper. Working in pencil, charcoal and ink on black paper, I draw only what the light touches, so my figures seem to emerge from the page as if carved.
Artist statement
I make things by hand, slowly, because I believe beauty still matters. In a time of endless images made in seconds, I want to bring back the weight of human craft: the pressure of a pencil, the grain of the paper, the hours it takes for a face to come out of the dark. I draw in white on black paper, drawing only what the light touches and letting the darkness hold everything else. Trained as a sculptor, I want my figures to feel carved rather than drawn.
I'm building my own aesthetic one drawing at a time. I want the viewer to stop for a moment, and feel what is held there.
Want something drawn in light?
I make art for the love of it, not as a production line. That's why I only take on a few commissions each month, so every piece gets my full time and attention.
But I never say no to a beautiful project or an interesting challenge. If you have an idea, a face, or a moment you'd like to see drawn in light, write to me.
